From The G-Man: Condé Nast Should Kill ‘The New Yorker’

The G-Man: Born In NC, Now Reppin In The NYC…..
What’s up people? I’ve seen the cover of “The New Yorker”, and The G-man is not laughing! As a former newspaper editor that was one level away from the Managing Editor position, I solely blame the editorial staff for their asinine decision to proceed with publishing the controversial depictions of Senator Barack Obama and his wife. To say that I’m furious would be an understatement, and I’m locked, loaded and ready to open fire on these jackasses of journalism.
The editors knew what they were doing and what the outcome would be. They knew black people would be extremely pissed off. They published it anyway. They knew Senator Obama, his campaign staff and his wife would be pissed off. They published it anyway. They knew that Muslim-Americans all over the country would be pissed off, and they published it anyway. The New Yorker’s editors tried to defend their actions by claiming the cover was purely satire. Okay, let’s go with that for a minute. Seeing Obama in a turban and having ashy, crusty feet might be comical to some. Portraying Michelle Obama has the reincarnation of 60’s radical Angela Davis might cause people to bust a gut laughing. The G-man totally gets that, but here’s where The New Yorker crossed the line. They jacked themselves up by also showing the American flag burning in a fireplace. That’s not satire, that’s that bullshit!
The burning of the American flag has never been, nor will it ever be, an acceptable practice for millions of people in the United States. Given the fact that news agencies all over the world frequently broadcast the desecration of the American flag, which is often filmed in Muslim countries, the editors of The New Yorker should’ve known better than to include this as part of their weak-ass attempt at satire. It cut too close to the edge, particularly with regard to the distrusts of Muslims in America and speculation about Obama’s true identity, and its sole purpose was to defame the potential “First Couple” and question their patriotism. Period!
I’m officially calling out the Condé Nast bigwigs by telling them to dump The New Yorker and do it fast! The editors blatantly disrespected the Senator and his wife, his campaign staff and millions of Muslim-Americans and die-hard Obama supporters all across the country. If that isn’t enough of an incentive to start handing out pink slips to the ass-clown editors at The New Yorker, you might want to consider this. In the July 16 issue of the New York Post, Keith J. Kelly, who writes a column entitled “Media Ink”, notes that The New Yorker has long been plagued by sagging advertising revenue. He goes on to note how the front cover controversy is having an immediate impact on advertisers. With that said, it’s obvious that the editors willingly placed the Condé Nast organization in a precarious and embarrassing position and didn’t give a damn about how it would affect your bottom line. Dump the damn magazine! If not, don’t be surprised if major organizations like the NAACP, and civil rights leaders like the Reverend Al Sharpton, call for boycotts against your publishing empire for failing to severely reprimand those responsible for this despicable, degrading and dishonorable act.
